Well we have reached the last

FMT: front and center challenge in this series.

Today's challenge we will be using the Maryhill

tangle.

I love this pinwheel-like tangle, and how the shading just brings it to life!

I know that you will do fabulous things with this one!

In addition to finishing this series
I feel that the time has come

to take a break from my challenges.

I am not sure at this point if it is forever

but 222 challenges seemed like a good number to round off with!

I am happy that I will still be able to stay in touch with many of you around the "tangling community". This summer I hope to participate more in the other challenges and also keep up with Stephanie's Travelling Tangles swaps, so I am grateful that our paths will continue to cross.

Thanks so very much to all of you for coming here for my weekly challenges.

It has been such a pleasure getting to know you and watch your artwork change over the years.

Back for the 11th week of 'front and center' FMT challenges!

Last week we chose my least favourite tangle

so this week I chose my favourite tangle!

We are going to put

Puf*

front and center today!

*I have linked to a step out but it isn't how I draw Puf so this may be confusing.

You can probably see how my method works, starting with a diagonal line across the box and then the curved lines go out from there. It often means that unless I take the time to place my lines, they don't line up with the box beside. There are also more curved lines in my version but I think it makes a nice "puffy" pattern! ;o)

I've said in the past that I don't take all of the official names and methods too seriously. I just do whatever feels right to me. For all I know someone has named my method a completely different name?!

It's not important, they are all just random patterns that have been around for centuries (if not 1000's of years).

The 'names', however, do come in handy when, in this case, I need to explain what I want you to draw!

If my record keeping is accurate,

this will be the 9th week of the

Finish my tile: front and center challenge.

This week's challenge starts with the tangle Dicso.

I've just drawn a little bit of it,
you can decide whether it needs to be expanded, or not.

For inspiration, I think I might take a look at all of the gardens that are starting to burst into flower around our community!

joey's weekly tangle challenge #217

Hello! today in Canada we are celebrating

Victoria Day, a public holiday to honour Queen Victoria's Birthday.

The weather has been lovely and warm so the great outdoors have been calling us!

The kids have had an early start this year swimming in the ocean, floating on tubes, paddle boarding, kayaking and rowing around the bay in our inflatable boat. (the boat rides are my favourite!)

Our family has also been planting up lots of veggies in our compact garden spaces. We don't have a conventional backyard so instead we use a combination of big containers and small pockets of space that can be dug over and get enough sun, like the narrow space shown. As you can see everything has to be behind 8 foot deer fencing. This year we hope to harvest peas, beans, tomatoes, radishes, cucumbers, peppers, lettuce, kale, chard, garlic, onions, carrots, zucchini, potatoes, a variety of berries, herbs and teas!
This time of year is so beautiful!

Well I suppose that title should be in the singular form.

One challenge completed, my #214 . . .

Starting with Spoken, I added

Chillon, Jetties, Tipple, Neuron, Knights Bridge, Nekton, Warped Eggs, Y-Ful Power, Zazzy, Barber Pole, Crescent Moon, Jalousie, Jonqual, Buttercup, Beelight, Cruffle, Ginili, Bunzo and Aura-Leah.

Phew!

I had hoped to be able to complete

some swaps this past weekend

but a soccer tournament in Powell River, BC

kept me busier than I thought.

My son's team came back as Island Champions,

we are very proud of them!

I was happy that I was able to break in my new

travel journal during the long hours of traveling!

I will close with some photos of this very scenic area of BC.

When it comes to drawing my daughter will draw on anything!

And the bigger the better!

Wow I feel that we are racing through these

Finish My Tile: front and center challenges!

This week we will be using the tangle

Spoken

And if you think that this looks hard to draw don't be fooled!

Maria and Rick's steps make it surprisingly simple.

This was my first try so mine is a bit wonky,

but I like that it has character!

I do suggest, however, that you leave a bit of time for this challenge

if you intend on completing it like I have done.

(yes I am actually ahead at the moment!)

I used 20 tangles all together including Spoken!

As well as a Travelling Tangles Swap with Kristi Berg.

This was February's Year of the Dog theme.

I have also sent out my swaps for March and April but I can't share those until my partners receive them!

I tried collage for what felt like the first time.

I'm not sure if I have ever really done this kind of collage before but this is on the cover of my new travel journal.

It's a mixed media sketchbook so when we travel

I pack watercolour pencils so I can add bits of dreamy colour.

I found it really hard to cut into a child's story book

but the top of each page was water damaged

so this puts the illustrations back into good use!

I haven't been very productive lately :o(
Partly due to having other 'more important' things to do,
partly due to the fact that I think I have lost my mojo again,
and partly because I have one eye that has been giving me slight double vision. It's annoying when you are drawing fine line patterns
and you see more lines on the tile than you have actually drawn! ha ha!

Meet my new "artsy" assistants.
I wanted something fun, cheerful and comfortable to wear
and I think they accomplish all 3.
I feel very fortunate that my eyesight has held up this long (my whole family wears glasses) and that I only have trouble with close up work.

This is what I have completed lately (pre glasses)

This is my Mak-Rah-Mee challenge.
It appears that I have been feeling prickly lately!?

For these challenges I made up a batch of new tiles and as I was about to toss the cover of the pad into the recycling I stopped . . . and then cut it up!

And then tangled one

It's kinda weird looking but it was a fun challenge to camouflage all of the lettering!

each week I will be starting with a tangle
in the front and center of the tile.

For this challenge you:
~ can use any shaped tile you like (I will be using circles. yah!)
~ can use black and white or add colour
~ finish the tile with tangles of your choice

I'm sorry that I am bombarding you with posts of tiles. When I am off work I try to catch up on challenges and "travelling tiles".

Here is my Joey Finish My Tile - Ribbons and Curls Challenge #208

I decided to turn the tile on it's side and fill it with oodles of tangles!

This next one is another Travelling Tangles swap, this time with Lisa Anderson. The theme for the Feb swap was Year of the Dog so there is a paw print string hidden in there.

I went bold with this one using my Koh-I-Noor Woodless coloured pencils.

And finally the Diva #356 challenge using my name as a string.

I find that I tend to reuse the same tangles over and over so I want to add some more tangles to my patterns book.

These are the ones that I have so far,
but I would love some new suggestions for what to add!
